I am surprised to hear about people having a problem with the 75, but it seems as though a lot of the problems are down to a lack of maintenance, yes there plenum drains get blocked, so check them and keep them clear! it's not rocket science, and not just a 75 problem (ask Audi owners)or just cut the pinch bottoms from the rubber pipes and then they don't block. Also the clutch slave cylinder being in the clutch housing is a feature of other cars (Freelander anybody?) and it doesn't have to cost a fortune to replace, I had my clutch, flywheel and slave cylinder changed by a garage for £600, which is very reasonable.
The 75 is not the car to buy if you want something you can just drive and never lift the bonnet on, it should only be bought by people who know how to check/change the oil and where to pour the screen wash into!
Also, join one of the Rover 75 forums, they WILL save you a fortune and you will also learn that a lot of the "problems" you encounter are easily and very cheaply fixed (I can't believe somebody on here paid over £100 to have an air-bag sensor under the drivers seat changed when all it needs to fix the problem is a cable tie costing pennies!!)
This is a great car, very comfortable, quiet and smooth, just don't buy one if you are mechanically incompetent!
