“Delay in application due to a technical fault of theirs”

I applied for a mortgage in November, they replied with a decision in principle within a week which was very efficient. Unfortunately I was outbid and the offer lapsed after three months.

At the end of this three months I found another house which I was successful in placing a bid under the asssurance that a mortgage application would be again swiftly accepted. I applied to renew the application which was treated as a new application and have as yet to receive a decision in principal after 5 weeks.

When I called several times I was assured everything was going to plan. However after my most recent call a keen eyed helpdesk assistant realised that two documents were not highlighted correctly for review.

My advice is to record all information transactions e-mails and calls as well as to keep on top of the progress.
