“Overall, be realistic and look at what you are paying....”

written by on 23/10/2008

Good Points
Location is good, away from main tourist area but not isolated from the town. Easy access by car and bus. Public areas of the hotel are very nice. Reasonable selection of bars and eating places within walking distance of the hotel if you fancy a change of scene.

Bad Points
Nothing major but corridors and rooms a bit tired, need upgrading. Similarly, the pool area is a bit tired but perfectly clean and in the Cyprus sunshine you soon relax. Staff vary in their response to guests, some very nice others can appear a bit abrupt.

General Comments
Overall, be realistic and look at what you are paying. Some comments on other sites would have you believe it is the hotel from hell. It is not.

The public areas, other than perhaps the pool, are easily 4*. The corridors, rooms and pool are tired and in need of renovation. They are by no means unreasonable for what you are paying.

The food is good if a bit monotonous, but no more so than some 5* tourist hotels.
Like most of us, individual staff members tend to respond well if they are treated with respect. I doubt I could walk around with a smile on my face all day if I had to live on what they get paid.
Obvious lack of training means that certain things like charging items to your room can be a bit of a hit and miss affair. Just because there are mistakes does not mean that someone is trying to rip you off. The week we were there there was a drinks promotion, like all hotels an attempt to get you to remain on the premises and spend your money. The problem was that the management did not appear to have briefed the bar staff. Not the end of the world.

Be realistic, it is not by any means a bad hotel. It is commensurate with the price. Spare a thought for the staff, the young lady who is still serving at the bar when you got to your bed at night and is serving breakfast at 7 the next morning is no more likely to at her best than you or I would be. Relax and you will have a nice holiday.
