“Unecessarily pushy sales staff”

written by 29Campbell on 23/02/2016

Initially, when 'Make it Cheaper' organised a deal on our business gas contract two years ago, it was in our best interest. The rate was good, no standing charge and the 2 year contract was suitable. However, when they called this year regarding renewal, both the contact person and the renewal guy were pushy and perfunctory. When I asked for the phone number so that I could check a few things out (I really disagree with being pressured into making snap decisions over the phone), the sales person was extremely reluctant to let me a) have the phone number and b) tried to keep me on the phone to 'answer my questions'.

After a quick call to our supplier, they confirmed much of what I had already been told but offered me much better rates for renewal in the same contract lengths, despite our cancellation deadline having passed.

So the moral of the story is, do your own checking and don't be pushed around by very insistent sales staff. It's such a shame really because if the sales staff had been less bothered about reading from a script, using my first all the time and trying to push me through the system as quickly as possible like a cow to the slaughter, and more and relaxed and genuine, I doubt I would have had such a gut reaction that there was something wrong.

Sorry Make It Cheaper, but I really don't like dealing with pushy sales staff, it has put me off ever wanting to work with your firm (or other comparison firms) in future.
