I have taken out post office travel insurance but fortunately never had to make a claim until this year. Last year my father was unexpectedly taken ill and so I had to cancel my holiday. I have provided the post office with all the documents they require including a letter from my fathers doctor confirming the dates he was unwell and that I attended him.
The post office now ask for additional evidence (not mentioned in their claims form) including a further letter from from my fathers doctor confirming that at the time I bought this policy, the doctor would have seen no substantial likelihood
of his/her patient’s condition deteriorating to such a degree that it would become necessary for me to attend them and cancel the trip.
Clearly the post office will use any opportunity not to honour their contract. Their letters have been rude and insensitive and the customer service non existent.
I certainly would not recommend the post office travel insurance.
