Good Points
Nice sit-up riding position.
Dependable; just start it and go.
People compliment me on this bike all of the time.
Bad Points
Engine held back by stock breather box and exhaust.
Speedometer is underreporting by at least 10MPH at top speed.
Seat is comfortable for only about 50 miles.
General Comments
I have 20,083 miles on the Triumph Thunderbird, which I have ridden for 2+ years now. I've ridden in ALL weather conditions, and usually ride it at it's comfort speed of 82 to 85 miles per hour. Though I'm 48 years old, I run with kids with rockets, and give them one hell of a run while I'm at it.
I've had the opportunity to ride ALL models of Triumph motorcycles during a factory demo day at the local rep, and I gained a new appreciation for the Thunderbird after that experience. I made a good choice. Too bad it's not made any more.
My current recommendation in the Triumph line-up? Without hesitation, the Speed Triple. Riding that bike was the most fun I've ever had on two wheels!!
