“Acted with out permission cost us double the original...”

So my partner contacted Direct flights about a name error on one of our tickets. The first and last name had been reversed.

After some discussion we had one person tell us that they needed to reissue the ticket and another tell us that we needed to be refunded the ticket and pay the new market price.

We wrote them an email specifically noting that they DID NOT have our permission to refund the ticket and we would investigate further with the airlines.

Tonight we received an email saying they had refunded the ticket and we now owed them $3693 for one ticket. Almost twice the original fare. They have done this without our permission. I am pregnant and will be travelling alone unless we accept these changes, so my partner is in crisis as what to do. Also they have said it will take 10-12 weeks to get our original fare refunded...

Unacceptable behaviour. Avoid this company. We will be engaging an ombudsman on their conduct.
