“Worst flight ever!”

written by on 04/12/2015

Last week I flew on American Airlines from Medellin, Colombia to Miami, Florida and then on a connecting American Airline flight to Las Vegas, Nevada. I can honestly say this last leg was the worst flight of my life. Being a handicapped person, I had prearranged to be taken to the plane in a wheel chair. When I inquired at the gate about this the person was really short with me, telling me to quit worrying about it. The wheel chair finally showed up and I was the last person to board the plane, which was 40 minutes late in departing. Thankfully, I had booked an aisle seat for the 5+ hour flight because I could not sit forward in my seat as my legs would not fit and I had to sit sideways with my feet in the aisle.
The back of the seat in front of me had a screen on which a movie was playing without sound. The Flight Attendant said there were no headphones because the plane was late and they did not want to take the time to get them. It didn't make any difference as the screen was so close to my face, I would not have wanted to watch it. I asked an Attendant to help me get a magazine out of my tote in the overhead compartment as I could not sleep in the position I was sitting and I was bored. She asked if my tote was heavy and I said that it was to me. She then said, "If it's heavy, I'm not helping you!" Needless to say, I will never fly American Airlines again and neither should anyone else subject themselves to this kind of abuse!
