“Stay Away from this Company ”

It looks good on paper initially. There are few catches though. Cars they advertise as “Ex-Demos” are actually not ex-demos. They are used cars probably come from the rental companies or big fleets. They do not come with any service history but with only the Hippo stamp. Price advertise is not the one you get as there will be lots of extras to pay for like extended warranty, GAP insurance , Tyre insurance and many other things.
We have leased VW Jetta 1.6 TDI DSG from them on March 2014 . Initial price advertised was £205 for 48 months with no deposit to pay. After initial discussion with their sales person price was increased to £229 . This quotation was included the extended warranty for entire contract period and some other extras.
Car’s Mechatronic unit to automatic transmission appeared faulty even before the 24 months of getting the car. Hippo said we did not buy the extended warranty initially so we will have to get this fix privately although the quotation they provided clearly says the price we pay include the warranty. At the end we had to pay nearly £2500 from our pocket for the repair of the car which was promised as come with extended warranty.
After a many email communications Hippo said there was an administration error on the documents provided but we never purchased extended warranty for the car. So we will to bear the cost of repair and ask us to take the legal actions against them if not happy. So we are preparing to take the legal action against them now.
So our advice for the public is to stay away from this company unless you want unnecessary headaches.
