We had a softener from jm softeners in our old house for about eight years when we moved we really noticed the difference. My son developed sore skin on the backs of his knees and I spent all my time cleaning as everything looked gungy. Within a week skin comfort had improved, taps and showers started to function properly and I didn't have to pour soda water onto my kitchen surfaces to get them to look clean. JM softeners did some clever engineering which means that we still have hard water, which tastes better, coming through the water cooler in the fridgefreezer as well as the extra tap on the sink, so everyone is happy.
