“Horrific customer service in one and brilliant in another”

I visited the Northampton branch of Apple as I was passing through one evening to purchase a MacBook Pro for university. I was eligible for he student discount and had previously spoken to a man on Live Chat whom confirmed it was offered in the store. When I arrived there was one other person in the store and five colleagues. Despite standing at the till for 10 minutes whilst they had a chat and pretended I wasn't there, I received no service at all. I finally had to approach and wave my hands as well as call for help multiple times until they actually acknowledged me being there (they knew I was there) I asked for what I wanted and they pretended there was no such thing as a MacBook Pro 13 inch, they also claimed there was no such thing as student discount. I showed them it available online and in the information I had printed to get it and they were not at all interested. They were rude, cold and snarled at my mother whom simply asked why we were told we could purchase one with the discount in store if that was not possible. In the end he said he could do the discount but said it would only be 5% and then refused to go to the stock room. The other colleagues moved across the cramped store and continued to ignore us.
Nobody seemed to have a clue what they were doing. Whilst I was in there another customer was complaining and asking questions and they had no idea about extremely simple things such as sizing, display and cases.
At this point of them being so rude and ignorant and misinformed about their products we left feeling ashamed, angry and disgusted.
We went to the Milton Keynes store on the way home and received outstanding service from the girl working there whom was extremely knowledgable and friendly. We were in and out in less than five minutes with exactly what I wanted.

I would give MK 5 stars but Northampton 0.
