I live in Southeast Texas. On April 27, we had a terrible hail storm. The storm was recorded on my alarm cameras. It took less than 7 minutes. A local roofing contractor told me that I had extensive hail damage to the roof of my house , shop and gazabo. Within a few days I had called my Insurance Agent and had her file a claim. A week or so later the adjuster showed up and verified that I had extensive damage to my roofs. I was told by an adjuster that the hail storm went throuh our city with an estimated 1/2 mile sweep. It took at least a month and a half for Lloyds to finally send me my first check which was only about 60% of what was the total claim amount. All of my neighbors received their checks (at least 80%) within days from other wind storm insurances. My roofing contractor completed the job on Aug. 17, and I'm still waiting on my final check from Lloyds (40%). My roofing contractor was nice enough to agree to wait until I received my final 40% Lloyds check for his final payment! My Insurance Agent has drug her feet in helping me receive my final check and I have since changed agents. I called to talk to Lloyds and found out that all of their claims are handled by a 3rd party agent in Houston. It's been 6 weeks since my roof was completed and still no 40% check from Lloyds! I always pay my insurance bills on or before they are due. I don't like to file insurance claims unless I absolutely have a claim, but when I do occasionally file a claim I EXPECT TO BE PAID QUICKLY WITHOUT ANY DELAYS! My new Insurance Agent says that he only uses Lloyds when NO OTHER INSURANCE COMPANY IS AVAILABLE!
