Great designer who advised that the room be fully decorated before the furniture was fitted. According to the fitter, the surveyor's measurements were, "not as accurate as they should have been." The furniture is supposed to be fitted within a month of the surveyor's visit but it wasn't fitted until 6 weeks later. The fitter, though a nice guy, is not really up to the job - very poor quality in some (small) areas. 6 of the doors were supplied too long & on phoning Hammonds, the fitter was told to, "deal with it." Sensibly, he insisted that the correct doors were supplied (causing a further delay of 1 week). The wrong handles were supplied & a chest of drawers to fit in one of the wardrobes was missing completely (fitted 2 weeks later).
I wasn't expecting to have to deep-clean the room & redecorate (remember the designer's advice?). The fit & finish is not up to the standard in the showroom & certainly fails to WOW, therefore the value of the finished job is rather less than the £6000+ we paid.
The quality of the furniture is probably just on a par with the Ikea furniture I fitted in my sons' rooms 10+ years ago & the Ikea stuff was fitted by someone who cares (me).
I'm now wishing I had fitted-out the room myself; the job would have been spot-on & much cheaper.
I've not contacted Hammonds; what's the point?
