“All in all the Pirelli Diablo is a superb motorcycle...”

Written on: 28/04/2005 by roofus (1 review written)

Good Points
180/55/zr17-120/60/zr17..Fitted to my Ducati 748...Great levels of grip even when on the verge of worn out. Confidance inspiring. First tyre to get my knee down on. Great at directional change and breaking mid corner. Feedback in bucket loads.

Bad Points
Grip levels only when fully warmed up and care should be taken with the front until fully up to temp. Though will slide on the way into the corner, will grip well mid corner if you can hold your bottle ( change your pants when you get home). Wear rate pretty high on the rear, and will tend to easily flat spot if you don`t use them for what they are designed for and no value as an expensive pose, cos a huge flattie in the middle does not look good with shiney sides and the metal weave carcass will soon show through, even though there`s huge amounts of tread left on the sides (choose a sports touring tyre if you prefer to ride upright),sports touring tyres offer great levels of grip, better wear rates and better value for your money.

General Comments
All in all the Pirelli Diablo is a superb motorcycle tyre in the right place and on the right bike, treat them as you would a race tyre (because thats what they almost are/were..old hat now) Would definately buy the right price...But I would also point out that the Ducati might well have had some/lots of input as to the tyre feedback and handling issues... Just bought a pair of supercorsa`s... will review them in a while..TTFN
