“The Infiniti QX4 by far is the best entry into the...”

written by bcooper on 12/10/2005

Good Points
Superb entry level luxury SUV.
Rides like a luxury automobile.
Very responsive 'on-the-fly' 4 wheel drive. Use it when you need it!

Bad Points
Lack of dealership support in semi-rural areas, as Infiniti dealers are generally found in large metropolitan areas.

General Comments
The Infiniti QX4 by far is the best entry into the luxury SUV market! It drives like a high-end luxury car, yet can faces the demands of an off-road sport utility vehicle. I know, because although most of my driving is in 4 season conditions (including snow) its 'on the fly' 4x on demand is superb! Also, recently I drove over a "roadless" 18,000 ranch, driving through streams, meadows (viewing a moving elk herd), over rotten fallen logs and boulders, and it wasn't at all 'anaemic' as some reviewers give this classic luxury SUV. However, if you're measuring it's 'get up and go' power with freeway passing, it is a bit sluggish, even compared with my wife's 1997 Infiniti J30. My only concern for any Infinity owner is the lack of dealerships spread out over America. The only dealer in Oregon is in Beaverton, and we live in Bend, OR! A learning point here is that Nissan dealers cannot serve all points/needs of an Infiniti. My 1997 QX4 has less than 100k miles, and most people think it is NEW!
