Terry Pratchett, Going Postal - If you're looking for...”

written by Simon Jones on 29/09/2004

Good Points
Quite an interesting story.

Bad Points
Totally unrelated to previous Discworld novels.

General Comments
Terry Pratchett, Going Postal - If you're looking for a Discworld novel - as opposed to a story set in the Discworld - then pass on. 'Going Postal' is set in Ankh-Morpork, true. Sadly, though, it bears little relationship to any previous novel by Terry Pratchett and even less similarity. What humour you can find is heavy-handed and the quirky puns and delightful wordplay are completely absent; at the end of the book you are left with the feeling that the general story has been forcibly transplanted from some potboiler into an Ankh-Morpork locale, and by a journeyman scribe at that.
