“Just market stalls selling tat!!!”

written by Haynespu428 on 08/06/2015

My sister and I decided to go The Ideal Home Show for ideas as we are both in the middle of house renovations.

What a complete waste of time and energy.

Walking into the building it promised to be everything we were hoping for. Brightly coloured artificial grass lined the way into the building which was flanked by really tall conifer trees and loud music and lovely people checking your tickets.

However, inside was a totally different story. The place was jammed full of market stalls selling what I can only call tat with rather aggressive sales people pestering as you as you browse. Extremely overpriced furniture, priced up to say they had been reduced, when they clearly hadn't. In one small corner of the building were 4 tiny set ups of actual rooms in the modern day home which were roped off so you could not even take a closer look at any item on display. None of them gave any inspiration or ideas to the public.

The food stalls were over priced, although some were very different and innovative, they were still far too expensive. I opted for a small portion of fries that cost me £3.35 which were so dry I threw half of them in the bin.

There was also a large section of the building which had nothing at all to do with "Homeware". It was full of make up, clothes, perfume & jewellery stalls and even a section were you could get your teeth whitened!! A huge waste of space. This could have been used for the gardening area which was promised in the advertisements but was no where to be seen......anywhere. A stall selling hose pipes and clunky garden furniture and an area for overpriced hot tubs which no one other than the rich and famous would buy! One was the size of a swimming pool. Only in a dream world for the average Joe like me.

Also on display was a very cramped "luxury" lodge which was priced up at £300,000!!!!! I mean......what?!?!

The majority of what was on display was not really appropriate for the average public. We walked around there uttering the words...."If only" a lot!

To sum up, a trip to IKEA or B&Q would be better! Simple!
