“The Roland XP-80 Workstation has the same sound...”

written by synth addict on 03/04/2006

Good Points
Extensive sound creation esp with expansion cards.
Brilliant appegiator and real time sequencer.
Good quality sound.
Very reliable.
Lots of real time control

Bad Points
The midi micro edit can be tedious due to the smallish screen.
Zipper noise when pushing the real time controls hard.
No inputs
Limited midi ins/outs

General Comments
The Roland XP-80 Workstation has the same sound generator as the JV series modules which were the industry standard.

It's real strength is getting ideas down fast. Surprising good for dance music as you can edit and record on the fly.

I've had mine for 9 trouble free years and doubt I'd sell it. Some of the expansion cards are very good... the vintage synth card is a must !

If you're buying. shop around, some people ask the earth.
