“2D Minecraft, No.”

written by ReviewNerd on 06/04/2015

The game that has been compared to Minecraft many times in the past, but will it stand next to that name? Let's find out...

>Note: I will be reviewing the PC version of Terraria but will also include certain things that are in the console and mobile versions, however not all of the things I mention are. Thanks!<

The first hours:
This is the most boring part for most people because of the constant mining for materials and chests, however it can be some of the best part because making that piece of lead armor you have searched for ages to be able to kill that boss. It can feel so good

Late game:
Late game is the most liked area of the game by fans (Including me) because of the amazing bosses and the really cool looking armor and weapons. The most effort needs to be put into this phase of the game because of the new creatures that you face after defeating one of the bosses. Late has more game-play than the first hours because, like I said before, there are new enemies to face that are unlocked by defeating the hardest boss in the standard mode of the game. This will unlock, New enemies, New ores, New bosses, New events, and a whole lot more crafting.

Good things:
The graphics are quite good with minimal glitches in the lighting system and the textures,
Download doesn't take very long,
Hardcore mode adds depth to the game,
3 Choices of difficulty,
Addictive (Not sure if good or bad),
Multi-player,
All around fun,
13 bosses raising in difficulty with each fight (18 if including the special event bosses, 13 Bosses on consoles, 12 on mobile.)]
Easy to use wiki if you get lost,
A growing mod community if you get bored.

Bad things:
Some might not like the graphics,
Hard to learn for new players,
Few bugs,
laggy multi-player,
occasional CPU usage jumps (You do not know how many times my browser has crashed while checking the wiki),
You can not pause the game...you have to leave the world to check your browser.

Final Thoughts: I have loved my experience with this game, and I'm still loving it. With so many paths to go off like being a Warrior or a Mage, A Ranger or a mix of all. It's almost open-ended in it's freedom.

If you like this type of game it will take you in and captivate you for hours on end.

My final rating is 7.8/10 A very solid gaming experience.
