“Pray you never need to make a change in your flight.”

written by Mark1809 on 16/03/2015

I can accept old dirty planes, bad food, poor inflight entertainment etec. However there are somethings like rebooking, or confirming flight schedules that just have to work as a basic in all airlines. I Just tried to change my return flight date. An unbelievable experience. I first tried the online approach of course that didnt work. Then I tried 25 calls to a call center that just kicks you out after you go through the automatic answering system. 2 emails to the headquarters automatic response is we may contact you in 21 days. I am in Montevideo Uruguay, modern country, new modern airport, Iberia flights daily. Can you imagine Iberia has no office or personnel at the airport! They have a jumbo landing and leaving every day and they have no contact at the airport, no local phone number. The only local number is disconnected. Even the airport information only has the disconnected numbers. The online booking function only tells you to call the call center which doesn't work. After two weeks of making calls, and driving one hour to the airport only to find they have no people there I called the spanish language call center and got someone. They transfered me and in the process I got kicked out again. Called the spanish number again and after one hour on the phone I was told they could rebook, but wanted 650 Euros that is almost 1000 dollars to change the return date. My ticket says I can make a change like this for 120 Euros. What is wrong with these guys. In forty years of flying and in earlier jobs I flew 60,000 miles a year I never experienced this from a modern airline. I guess they will have to add their name to the list of airlines that have closed, because with service like this no one would use them twice.
