i phoned direct lines help line emergency number to report a flood in my kitchen, caused by a pipe from behind my washing machine, which was destroying my fitted kitchen cabinets, also linoleum flooring. I was was promised a plumber would attend within the hour, my call was made at 20.08. At 22.30 no one had attended, when i called the emergency number asking where the emergency plumber was, i was given no satisfactory explanation for non attendance.I had no option but to call a relative who is a fully trained engineer, he attended at 01.30 and sorted my problem out which he stated could not have been done by ourselves.Direct lines responded with a £40 insult I also reported this to the financial ombudsman, who after more than a year, in his totally biased report, agreed that £40 was correct, although sadly the facts as he reported them were incorrect!
