General Comments
I didn't end up staying in the Formule 1 hotel in Newcastle. We stumbled across it not realising that our hotel was actually behind this one, but our experience would possibly make me think twice before booking into this hotel. We arrived at the door to find that they have no reception, instead there is a machine outside that you put your credit card details in, and it should give you a ticket with your room code (to enter your room and the locked front door) and room number on it. A couple before us had already booked and paid for the room via the internet, and they found the instructions really confusing. Anyway they had to enter there credit card details in, and the ticket should have been issued - BUT the ticket machine had run out so they could not see the front door code, room code and room number. They tried phoning the number on the door, which rang an empty room in an office down a corridor and went to an answer phone. Luckily you can view the code on the computer outside (I think you had to put your details in again to retrieve the data). But the silly thing is, it does not give you a room number. The poor couple had to input the same code into each door until they found the right room!
