Donna Tartt, The Secret History

Donna Tartt's first novel, The Secret History is a gripping tale about what led a close-knit group of university students to murder and the aftermath.

The students in question are part of a select group of scholars studying together mostly under one professor. One night a murder occurs and soon after, a second. It's a genuinely creepy book where you don't know who's good and who's bad but you can understand the motivations behind all the characters.

Tartt's writing is very special because she really puts you into the middle of her plot as if you're part of the story and she manages to build the suspense slowly as she provides each piece of the puzzle.

It's a great read!
