As a mother of a pre-adolescent son, my main concern was to purchase a product that would allow my son to play video games that did not promote any of the forbidden topics listed in the review guidelines, would allow him to have fun on a rainy day when he couldn't get outside to play, was more interactive than watching TV and provided some eye-hand coordination activity. All the research my husband and I did indicated that the Nintendo GameCube was the best option and had the best choice of games (E-rated games), and it was certainly the best value of all the products available on the market. This has nothing to do with replacing video sports with the real thing, or using this as a babysitting tool or replacing family time with a little purple box.
