“Good accommodation but don't expect any sleep”

written by on 26/09/2014

We booked this house after much searching as it suited our whole family which included 5 adults and a toddler. Promised 2 acres of garden turned out to be a poorly accessed 1/4 acre piece of scrubby grass and the rest was vertical scrubland. Kitchen had all appliances needed but was VERY poorly equipped with utensils etc. Never stayed in a house before that didn't even have a sieve. Good laundry facilities overall.
Beware that cleaning is not included and you are asked to clean before you leave otherwise you have to pay £30 for this service. What a cheek! We had to wash the floors when we arrived because of covering of beach sand and stickiness. Balcony very dirty with cigarette butts and general muck.
Accommodation fairly comfortable with good living area.
Note that both double bedrooms on top floor and twin bedrooms in basement- not ideal if you want to sleep close to children.
The biggest draw back is that the property is opposite the Oystercatcher pub and the noise is unbelievable especially at 1 or 2 in the morning when people leaving roll bottles down the hill and ride wheelie bins. We had so little sleep we were pleased to get home.
We stayed in September and cannot imagine what it would be like in the summer months.
