“Solid helpful credit.”

written by on 13/09/2014

I have a low credit rating but was still granted a Vanquis Credit card which I am very grateful for (ever tried paying for a hotel room with a debit card?)
Every bank has the right to set their terms withing legal boundaries. Vanquis interest seems very reasonable to me. I paid just about £10 on a balance of about £500. People get confused about the BILLED DEFERRED FINANCE CHARGE, but I telephoned and it is very simple!! You can avoid this charge simply by not using your credit card for the 5 days prior to the monthly statement date. This charge is for carrying over items purchased on your card to the next statement after they have begun to prepare your current statement. THIS SAVES YOU MONEY as it reduces the total owed on your present statement. If you do not wish to be charged BILLED DEFERRED FINANCE CHARGES, just refrain from using your card for the 5 days prior to statement date each month. When you use your card while the statements are being prepared it causes extra work to hold those payments over to the next month - that is the extra service you are paying for. It is frustrating to see so many complaints online about this charge when it is so simple to understand!!
Well done Vanquis - I'm not a big spender but I love the freedom my Vanquis card gives me :-} xx
