“Let us down”

written by Eaglesman on 03/09/2014

My late father in law was 84, looking after himself and in apparently reasonable health. His desired aim was to attend the 65th Anniversary of D Day in France. He paid for the holiday with my wife as his companion. He took out full insurance with Saga, declaring all current and previous medical issues and medications. Unfortunately he fell ill and had to be admitted to hospital. As it was his dearest wish to attend, the hospital did their utmost to allow him to go and discharged him with the many signature approvals done. Fortunately I decided to have him come to my home from hospital, the day before leaving for France. Unfortunately he had a relapse and was unfit to travel, so my wife went alone on his behalf to obtain his commemorative medal which he truly desired. Saga refused to pay out as they said they were unaware of all of the circumstances. These were changing day to day, so we couldnt keep them informed of everything. Unfortunately my father in law died shortly afterwards. I contacted their Heirachy and even their MD, who concurred with their previous statements. I would never have SAGAs insurance again. It was worthless.
