“Refunds are pitiably slow”

I would advise anyone not to shop with HOF online, especially if they have to return goods and then wait for a refund.
I sent for two garments online that did not fit, returned them the same day and then had to wait a fortnight before the money was refunded. This was despite the fact that I repeatedly sent e-mails asking where my money was.
The answer was always that it could take some time for the goods to be 'processed' and the money repaid.
My question is WHY? Could it be that the longer they hang on to your money the more interest THEY accrue? Except for the few days it takes for the goods to be sent back I just don't find this acceptable. The money went out of my account with speed and it should go back in at almost the same rate.
Retailers such as East are far superior when it comes to this aspect and that's where I'll be shopping in future.
