“Car as promised but Hertz surcharges and surly staff”

The Verona Hertz staff were not that interested and less so when they saw our Auto Europe voucher. The 7-seat Ford S-Max was quite new, big enough for my 6-person family. Quite frankly I was relieved given some of these client reviews. On return there was no petrol station on the way in from the Autostrada and so Hertz charged us €60 for €20 worth of diesel plus a €20 "Fuel Service Charge"..plus tax! I could just about accept that as my fault (my advice is ask the Hertz "customer service agent" to mark the nearest petrol station on a map when you pick-up the car). However Hertz also charged us €116.99 for "Location Service Charge". This was not explained and I still do not know or understand what we have been charged over and above the £669.35 prepaid to Auto Europe; possibly as much as €311.06. Caveat emptor.
