“Overbooking flight from LHR to Costa Rica July 2013”

On arrival at LHR at 3.30am, I tried to check in at 4am. I was told that the flight had been overbooked and I needed to join a long queue at the check in desk. 2 hours later we were told that we could not board the flight and were redirected to American Airlines to fly via Miami.
Thanks to Iberia it took me 21 hours to travel from London to San Jose in CR. I missed part of my holiday and still have not been provided with any compensation.
Three letters have been sent to Iberia Customer Services. Only one response which said I did not check in early enough! I had to join a 2 hour queue. What does one expect?
The Iberia website plainly states that if a flight is overbooked and your are bumped off your flight you are entitled to compensation. I am still waiting.
An absolutely appalling experience and I will get my compensation and will never recommend IBERIA AIRLINES.
Iberia Airlines.....over to you.......
