In a recent thunder storm, my house was damaged by a nearby lightning bolt. The electrics blew and part of the circuit was knocked out. When I tried to use the Home Emergency Service as per my contract with Churchill's, I was sternly told this doesn't qualify as an emergency and my policy didn't cover lightning stokes. I then had to call out an electrician and had to pay £150.00 out of my pocket to get the job done.
When I then tried to claim on my buildings insurance I was told of Mysterious £500.00 excess limit on my policy which I apparently greed to, news to me because nowhere on the paperwork sent to me is there a mention of a £500.00 excess. Quite convenient that! If you try to get a quote on line you will not see any mention of any excesses anywhere. Steer well clear Dawn unless you want to be associated with that lot.
