“The Finepix 2400 is small enough to handle easily, not...”

Written on: 11/09/2001 by Steve Boreham. (1 review written)

Good Points
Excellent value for money, fine specification, a doddle to use, and excellent results.

Bad Points
Three, two related to the viewfinder;

1) An insufficient amount of the actual photo area is
actually shown. You soon get used to it, and compensate
accordingly, but initially this results in large areas
of unwanted 'margin'.

2) The view finder suffers badly from parallax error, even
when not used close up. Again, you get used to it, and
compensate accordingly, but this should not be necessary.

3) Flash anti red eye effectiveness is marginal.

General Comments
The Finepix 2400 is small enough to handle easily, not so small that it is fiddly to use.

Context sensitive menus are simple in the extreme to get the hang of. Other manufacturers could learn much from Fuji.

Having a physical zoom is a real advantage in being able to maintain good picture quality when zooming in on the subject.

Battery consumption is better than many digital cameras.

Resultant images are superb for a 2.1MP camera.
