“The other side of Rome”

written by MEFos on 30/06/2014

Our flights had to be arranged so we left from Luton and returned to Stansted, but this was no problem to Jetline staff, who sorted it all out for us over the phone. Our hotel was situated in the Trastevere area of Rome, a short tram ride from the centre (Trastevere means across the Tiber). Hotel Ripa is not in the most attractive area, but the architecture was interesting inside, and our room was enormous, if a little idiosyncratic. The buffet breakfast was plentiful, in the 1960s style breakfast room. Despite the unpromising situation of the hotel, and the building work going on locally, we were really impressed with the Trastevere area, which was full of interesting shops and bars which came to life after dark. We also found out we were next to the largest flea market we have ever seen, selling anything and everything on a Sunday morning. Transport links were great, and we enjoyed hopping on and off the buses and trams, and were able to make our way across Rome very easily.
Our break was excellent value for money, and we would happily use Jetline again.
