With the increase of 'internet only' bikes dealers such as Canyon its getting harder and harder to justify purchasing your new pride and joy from your local bike shop. With higher overheads, pricing has to take into accounts shop costs, additional staff etc and make the 'internet only' dealers seem more and more appealing. However if anyone is facing this current dilemma all i can say is get down to Specialized Ruislip. It's shops like these and the service you get from their friendly and knowledgeable staff that reminds you why the LBS existed in the first place.
I went in looking for a custom build on an S-Works Tarmac and hoped that they could assist. It became apparent from the outset that i had made the right choice, i dealt with an advisor and his passion for all things Specialized was addictive, we chatted part options and tech for over a hour to make sure i got what i wanted and at no point did i feel pressurized and often felt that he would ensure i didn't spend money where it wasn't needed.
I'm now the owner of the final product and it's perfect. I couldnt be happier and this whole experience was capped off by the customer service and friendliness in Ruislip.
I cannot recommend them enough, stop looking at websites, stop flicking through magazines and get down to your LBS, touch the bikes, talk to people who know and love the tech, you wont regret it.
