“Used for the first time, really pleased”

I used Western Union for the first time yesterday and paid WU Pay through my bank account. I made a mistake of not completing the transaction first so I just put my own reference number. When I finally completed my transaction, I received the notification e-mail saying the importance of the reference number. I had this scary vision of my money just going around their system, with no destination. It didn't help that I read some of the reviews on this site after and really panicked. In short, I called them and then was asked to e-mail WU Pay informing them of the situation. After an hour, I received a message informing me that the money was now already available for pick-up by the receiver. The receiver got the money today, AFTER ONLY ONE WORKING DAY (and I suppose the same day if we were only in the same time zone) and since I had sent straight from my bank account, and the receiver got cash, there were no charges at all.

Just to be fair with Western Union I thought of writing this review because it seems that the reason they receive very low ratings is most people who normally have good experiences don't leave feedback. My relatives who have been using Western Union for years were the ones who suggested I use the company. They corrected my mistake without hassle. I'll definitely use them again and will be careful next time not to write my own reference number!
