“Silly marketing strategy”

written by dugongs2 on 01/04/2014

I sent a Note 1 which was in OK condition but had some marks on case and small scratches on screen. No way was it new but it was working fine and would be described as good condition.

I have used these people before without problems for phone in similar condition. And again they were highest offer I could find offering £105 so I sent in and then got an email few days later saying dropping price to £74.

I did a quick comparison and this was still the highest I could have got from any of the reputable trade-in sites. A similar phone went on ebay this week for £84 so the lower offer was really the true price for a used phone.

I accepted the lower offer and after about a week and 1 phone call the cash turned up in my account. They seem to use BACS for transfers and it takes an age so although I chased I think on reflection i did not have to as money turned up next day but even so it took a long time.

All in all if they had just offered me the final price immediately I would have used them anyway. The fact they seem to be trading on the assumption that I am going to send them a new phone seems unrealistic and do not see how this can be a winning strategy. A lot of people trade their phones every year to couple of years so why go through this charade ?

Be upfront and honest and I will be happy. As it is I am not unhappy but felt my time had been wasted somewhat so 2 stars and I probably wont use them next time.
