“Sri Lanka Volunteering”

I went to volunteer for one month and had the most incredible time, I found the people of Si Lanka very friendly and relaxed (had an island vibe full of Bob Marley music) Not to mention hoe beautiful it was with the tropical climate and paradise-like beaches...
The Volunteering was very good and I did 3 weeks in the medical project which I loved and was able to get a lot out although it was very much the type of thing that you had to be prepared to put yourself out there and ask questions (even if you thought they were stupid) and then you can gain a lot and all the staff love to see you are interested.
My week in the girls orphanage was very different but equally as amazing. It was so satisfying to feel that the girls were learning although sometimes sad to see how they were often missing vital parts of their education but to be able to help as well as have fun and play with them was amazing and they are all such sweet affectionate girls.
I also found the hospitality of Ashika and Nalaka was amazing throughout the trip as well as all the other people that were around the house (Ranji and Nisha especially) not to mention all the tuk tuk drivers.
It was an amazing adventure and something I will never forget.
