“Two Islands in Seychelles”

Written on: 11/03/2014 by wetken (1 review written)

We wanted to see at least two islands. We spent 5 days in each of Praslin and Mahe. By chance we chose hotels on the right beaches for the season (SW in the wet season), but between the wet and dry seasons the wind and waves turn 180 degrees, so do some research before you book. From Praslin it's a day trip to La Digue, and that was enough for us, not being beach people. It's very quiet there, in the rainy season there is a lot of run-off from the plantation into the lagoon, and at low tide it was pretty rank. But then again, I was wading in the shallows at Anse Severe and a turtle swam by: magic.
Creole travel did all our transfers and they were brilliant - could not fault their service. Netflights arranged everything, and they were pretty good, too. However, I wasn't offered other than B&B whereas both the hotels offer Half-board or Inclusive, and this might have been a better option for us. If you're planning a similar trip to us, make sure you book through to Praslin with a stopover in Mahe on the return - it's cheaper and simpler.
You can snorkel from the beach pretty well everywhere when the waves permit, but it's a bit bland. Better an excursion to see reef fishes.
A lovely place to spend a couple of weeks, unwind and get a tan.
