“Just say no....”

Summary: I ordered a hat in September. My credit card was debited a few days later. The colour I ordered was out of stock. I have asked for a refund (£45) three times now. It's three months since I ordered and paid but no-one replies to my emails and I haven't had a refund.

Full version: I wanted a purple hat for my friend - purple is her favourite colour. I found the particular hat I wanted on the website, so ordered it on Sept 7, 2013 and paid by credit card. I never received a confirmation email but my card was debited a few days later. Six weeks later, I hadn't heard anything so checked my order history on the website. There were two notes from the store owner - the first dated the day of my order, saying that the item would be ordered on Monday. The second, dated six weeks later, saying that the colour I wanted was out of stock and would I like another colour. I thought it was strange that I hadn't actually been emailed, just that the notes were put on the company's website, but never mind. I emailed the company via their contact me form on October 23 asking for a refund, as I had only ordered from them because they had the hat in purple and I didn't want another colour. No reply. A few weeks later I emailed customer services, asking for a refund. No reply. A few weeks later, again, I emailed them via their contact form, asking for a refund as I didn't want to go through my credit card company and get Highlife Hemp a bad name. Again, no reply. I'm not given to complaining but I'm pretty fed up with this company. The amount I'm owed is too low for the credit card company to refund me but I'm going through my bank as the card issuer, as they are apparently obliged to refund me. It will take time but I'm not giving up. I don't like being ripped off.
