“Frustration and anoyance with Travel Republic”

Just returned home from a driving holiday in Sicily, that incorporated four separate hotels booked through Travel Republic. Whilst away, we were contacted by our daughter in the UK, telling us that Travel Republic expected “her to contact us” because the 4th Hotel could not accept us and they needed to know if we would accept an alternative hotel offered. Travel Republic was impossible to contact by phone (you get a pre recorded message saying there lines are busy and you are then put on hold). When we arrived at the alternative hotel offered, they had no notification about our visit. After a load of time wasted we then found the original hotel only to be told by the receptionist that “they had never received any confirmation about our stay from Travel Republic? After returning home to the UK, I contacted. Travel Republic who refuse to discuss the issue and insist that their written complaints complaint’s procedure is used! Twenty eight days later my response from them is “Please note that overbooking’s are an unfortunate aspect of the travel industry as, on occasions, hoteliers will overstretch themselves by taking on too many bookings with the expectation that there will be an element of cancellations throughout the season” BEWARE EVERYONE, TRAVEL REPUBLIC IS GREAT IF EVERTHING GOES OK, ANY PROBLEMS, THEN TOUGH YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN
