“knocked our house down”

Written on: 13/11/2013 by AlanDobson (1 review written)

In 2007 our oil tank leaked depositing several thousand litres of oil into and around my late mother in laws property. Prudential hired a company to decontaminate the soil inside and around the property. During this process another company was hired to underpin the house. During this process they accidentally caused the gable end to collapse. Prudential hired builders to reinstate the gable end but have never accepted liability for the damage caused to the rest of the property mainly due to being left open to the elements for over a year. They have constantly refused to pay up. Even the builders who reinstated the gable end were not paid fully. At one point the loss adjuster requested that the painter only paint half of the reinstated room as he felt the other half was ok. We complained to the ombudsman and he found in our favour 18 months ago. They ignored this and we are back into the complaints procedure. A disgrace to insurance companies. The full complaint against them would take a book. I am no longer dealing with the complaint as after 6 years I felt it was time to hand over the baton of dealing with the 2 individuals who have been in charge of the claim with Prudential to another family member. My advice is NEVER insure with Prudential and whichever company you have never deal with Questgate loss adjusters . In one email from QUESTGATE they stated as my mother in law is now dead they felt they could reduce the amount payable as she no longer needed the damaged goods being claimed for!
