“Apart from the cockerell...”

Apart from a neighbouring cockerell I had a good holiday at Ledra Apartments, Maleme, Crete. I had been to Crete a number of times over the past twelve years and needed a break after a stressful year. The transfer and apartment were fine. The courier was knowledgeable and helpful, especially as she lived locally. The tour to the Botanical Park & Gardens was excellent. All at the family-run Ledra were also excellent and friendly. Maleme would not have been my first choice, but as a late booking and base to travel in western Crete it was fine. The beach is not great, but having a car meant I could get wherever I wished – one and a half hours to a remote southern beach, with other excellent beaches within an hour. Bus travel is easy too.
