“Silverline "Water Barrel Pump" (Model : 633872)”

Written on: 12/10/2013 by Drastic (16 reviews written)

This pump is designed to sit in the bottom of your water barrel & pump out the water vir it's output shaft that exits above the barrel, which if you have the standard clip on connector on your hose you can connect your hose to it easily.
I found the output pipe just the right length for my 200lt barrel, (drill a 30mm hole to allow the pipe to exit through the lid) you can clip on a short length of hose to fill a watering can or clip on your main hose.
On the bottom of the pump is a black cage for the water pick up, this is made of a brittle plastic & can be damaged in transit, so check it carefully upon arrival.
The blue plastic mounding does not seem to be well finished, functional not pretty.
I've not had the pump very long so can not say how long it may last? I'm a little
worried that it may fail before it's time, but the manufacture does give a three year guarantee so I guess they have faith in it, so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. So far I'm happy with it, good power, good price.

I did find that after a while the black plastic connector at the top of the pipe leaks big time no matter what make of hose fitting you connect up to it.
However if you twist the black plastic connector round & round while pulling it will come off, this leaves you with a nice bit of plain tube, which you can push on a short length of hose pipe, it's a tight fit, but it will go on & don't need a clamp.
Then you can fit a double ended connector (male to male) to the hose (again a tight fit) after which you can connect up your hose with easy & no leaks, worth the effort!
Pump still going strong, seems a good one.
