“Good follow up when hotel was overbooked”

Having done the long haul from New Zealand to Lucca, Italy (almost 2 days) I was informed on check-in - a Saturday afternoon - that there was no room available for two of the nights reserved. I spoke to the hotel manager by phone and he agreed to see what he could do. The hotel did offer a room at their other hotel but the location was impractical for the conference I was attending. Once I had checked in I phoned in the UK and they immediately offered to have one of their Italian-speaking colleagues contact the hotel manager on my behalf. Within a very short time I was phoned back by to say the booking had been sorted and I would be staying through the entire period. Excellent service from and very much appreciated by a solo female business traveller whose Italian is limited.
