“Simple, useful site - though could be even better. ”

Late Rooms is my default site when I'm looking for a hotel. It's very easy to use, returns a good range of hotels with useful filter and sort options and the map view means you can easily check if eg it backs onto the motorway.

I do have some niggles though - the search function sometimes gets confused about the filters you have selected, so it returns a long list of hotels but when you drill down you find half of them are fully booked for the accommodation you have listed, which is pretty annoying. Also there's no mobile version of the site: given that you're likely to use it in a hurry looking for somewhere to stay that night, it seems an obvious requirement. The full site is quite busy and difficult to use on your phone.

The other problem is that when you make the booking, there's no way I can see to pass additional requests on to the hotel. It only takes the bare minimum information, so if, for instance, the hotel says they have disabled access but you need to be sure you have a room on the ground floor, or one you can get your wheelchair into, the only way to sort this out is to call the hotel direct. As there's inevitably a delay before the booking hits the hotel systems this can lead to all sorts of confusion.

But overall, it's very good. It does what it says on the tin, and it gives you enough extra info - the photos and reviews are very useful - that you know what you are getting when you make the booking.
