“Asda pet insurance 'weasels out' of paying claim.”

Don't use Asda for your pet insurance.

I took out pet insurance for my dog not long after we got her, thinking it would be the sensible thing to do just in case she became ill or needed treatment.

I have paid into the policy for over 4 years now without needing to make a claim. Recently though, a small 'spot' on her tummy altered shape and size so, on the advice of my vet, it was removed surgically at a cost of approximately £175.

I made a claim to Asda for this amount and after an awful lot of phone calls and 'hoops' to jump through, they decided that my claim was unsuccessful. Their reasoning was that because I had taken my dog to a vet about this particular problem over 12 months ago, they couldn't pay out. I tried to explain that I was advised initially not to do anything about the spot apart from keeping an eye on it and that the spot had become worse and now needed treatment. They still refused to pay out.

I have now cancelled my policy with Asda as I reason that if they would not pay out on a small amount like this, then how difficult would it be if my dog had a major problem?

Very very disappointing Asda, I would not recommend them to anyone, despite the fact that they were very courteous on the phone!
