“Copy of photos to CD service - don't go to ASDA”

Written on: 19/09/2013 by Testvalley (1 review written)

ASDA have linked up with Fuji to copy camera memory cards to CD. Seems simple enough but they have really mucked this up. They DO NOT COPY PHOTOS. They CONVERT pictures to a different format that can only be read by specialist software. The CD won't run in any DVD player or Playstation 3 so you can't view the pictures on a TV. They provide a viewer which will work on a PC only but it offers very little control of viewing and is incredibly slow to load a full-screen picture (Hires).

For the technically minded the format they use is Photoshop whereas everyone else uses JPG for pictures (including all popular cameras and viewers).

To get pics back to JPG could take hours with specialist software.
