“Disappointing for a 2-night stay in Halifax”

written by on 03/09/2013

Having previously used, and enjoyed, University residences while traveling during the summer months, I had no hesitation in booking a 4-bedroom apartments at MSVU when we had family visit with us in August, 2013. My first impression was poor, given that we had to drive around the campus for almost 30 minutes at night to find the residence. I can't understand why driving instructions are not properly posted. I realise that the rooms are intended for students, who are expected to bring their own supplies, but the bedrooms were very poorly equipped - no bedside lamps, poor quality mattresses and pillows, while the kitchen is not available for use, since there are no pots, pans or cutlery - who travels on vacation carrying such implements? We did avail ourselves of the breakfast facility, which I thought to be a reasonable value until I saw on my bill that breakfast costs $7.50/per person/per night. My breakfast comprises coffee and toast, so perhaps it does not constitute value for money.
Cannot recommend the facility.
