“Disability non friendly ”

written by Lou26 on 21/08/2013

As this park offers no discounts for disability it should reflect on this. Gravel path towards and around manor house and most of park totally unsuitable for people in self propelled wheelchair and those on walking frames including Kaye frames
Toilet raised high toilet no range of side bars so disabled user if under at least 5foot have to hold onto toilet seat if the have poor postural support. There is no changing facilities for profound disability leaving them without even the basic facilities for them to be changed
Playground ....no equipment for disabled children non inclusive even miniature house is so narrow a child on a frame can't get in it
No outside seating area for someone wheel chair dependent to eat at the table at all venues I saw
Most doors single opening inc that to the restaurant not wide enough for wheelchairs
Hand washing facilities not suitable in children farm yard as cant get wheelchair near tap
Picnic table in shelter next to giraffe no access to sit against table if wheelchair dependent x
Table not suitable again at chairs opposite lion enclosure
Ditto leopard kiosk
Path good near penguins and meerkats all park should be like this
Train only one space and wheelchair fixed in one direction so person in wheelchair can see nothing to the left unlike all other passengers facing head on or backwards
Shops have no lowered counters to serve wheelchair dependent customers
To name but a few totally unacceptable when charging the same price as able bodied people
Added to this often people with a disability and there families are often on low income by no choice of their own and therefore need reduction to attend without this this group is discriminated from accessing this park.. If a carer is required to support the disabled person to access the facility 1000 of venue allow them in for free many of them much smaller venues than yourself local ones inc, Cotswold farm park, Bristol zoo (which also has a hoist and changing facilities), cinemas, Cattle country, pinknash Abby and the list goes on.
You service is not inclusive for many of reasons described above
