“Awful membership services and practices”

My experience at the LA Fitness club in Oxford was awful. The changing rooms were often quite dirty, and the showers smelled of mold. The exercise area was often so overheated that even after a casual run, I felt dehydrated and overheated. On top of all this, because of the poor conditions at the Oxford club, I quit attending last fall. Of course, after my membership officially ended in January, they continued to hit my bank account on direct debit. In the U.S., this is against the law. Here in the UK, their explanation was that they operate just like a mobile phone company (i.e., they charge you until you cancel). But they're not a mobile phone company, are they? Please do not join LA Fitness for both these reasons. Find another club, and put these charlatans out of business.
